Zero lunged at X and punched the cyber elf square in the jaw. Rerouting energy to increase his speed had proven useful otherwise he knew he wouldn’t have been able to land such an attack on the cyber elf. Although the punch was powerful, in X’s powered up Maverick form it probably felt like a normal hit. However it caused X to slide backwards and give Zero enough time to practically disappear. His speed was increased to a rather dangerous max for him, however he’d need it. He had sprinted behind X and quickly wrapped the chain rod around him causing the spikes to dig into X’s skin. There wouldn’t be an easy way for X to get out, but it wouldn’t be impossible for him to do so. That is if he didn’t mind possibly tearing off portions of his skin.

X’s head snapped back from the force of Zero’s punch, though that was the same reaction he would’ve gotten were they both human and Zero’s strength had no augmentation.  Before he could retaliate, however, he felt the chain rod wrapped tight around him, tearing through his robe.  He smirked to Zero.  ”Try a little harder,” he teased.  He morphed into his smaller, “light orb” form, causing the chain to fall slack on the ground, then changed back to his material state and kicked Zero in the jaw.  His light orb form, instead of being a pale gold or a brilliant spectrum, was now hues of black and red.

Zero slid across the ground on his back before sitting up and rubbing his jaw slightly. He wasn’t exactly in a hurry to get up since he could easily outpace the cyber elf. He cursed and examined X. He couldn’t fight the Maverick like he’d fought Omega. He would need a different tactic. He scowled. Most of his plans would work if X didn’t have his light orb form. Maybe he could somehow lock the elf out of that state. His eyes were cold and calculating but didn’t really hint to what he was thinking. He’d also shut off his connection to X so that he wouldn’t be able to read his thoughts and react to things before they even happened.
